first final today

We are almost done guys!! Today I have my first final in my Assessment issues class. It is a class for special education. I love it! I have learned so much in this class that I will be able to use in my classroom in the future. To get your special education certification you just need to take four of the special education classes and it is totally worth it if you are interested in special education. My professor is a 4th grade math special education teacher and has been for many years. She was able to tell us many of her personal experiences while she was teaching in her special education classroom. Hearing what she has gone through was really great because it gave us all a heads up and a little background information so we know what to expect when we have our own classroom. I have really enjoyed this class and look forward for my next special education class next semester.

good luck on all of your finals guys and have a great holiday break <3

Last week of classes before finals!

I am so happy that this is the last week of classes. I am in need of a month off from school! Over my break I will be working at Macy's and spending time with my family and friends. The first week of January I am going to Vermont with group of my friends and I cannot wait. All of my friends go away to school and I am the only one that stayed home. So I am so excited to be going away with them and getting to spend time with them. My good friend, Emily, just got an apartment in the city and she just moved in so as soon as I am done with finals I will be going into the city to help her get settled into her new place. Over the Holidays is when all my family gets together. For Christmas Eve we have everyone over my house and on Christmas day we go to my Grandmother’s house. We have done this every year for as long as I can remember :)

What are everyone else’s plans over the long break?

This job is for the holidays but I am hoping that they will keep me on after the holidays. Times are tough and one job for me isnt cutting it. Especially this time of year.

Well the semester is almost over guys ! It went by so fast, I cant believe it. It's that time again when everything is due at one time and fianls are around the corner. Good luck to everyone!

I love the snow but having no power......

Winter might be my favorite season because that means snowboarding season is coming up. Although this year I am a little scared to go snowboarding since last year I broke my wrist. I broke my wrist the day before New Year’s Eve. I welcomed the years 2011 with a nice big cast on wrist that went all the way up to my elbow. I was in so much pain that I didn’t want to go anywhere. I just wanted to stay in bed and watch the ball drop but my boyfriend and family would not let me stay home. It was horrible. It was the first time I ever broke anything and I was acting like such a baby about it. I couldn't do anything myself, it was my right wrist and I am a righty. I felt like a baby depending on my mom to help me do my hair and get dressed for New Years Eve. I was a royal you know what that day. This year I will be fully prepared when I go snowboarding, I will have a brace on BOTH of my wrists, just in case!

So anyway, I do love the snow and was excited that it snowed so early but having no power for 3 days was really horrible. No heat, no TV, no lights, no internet, no coffee machine.. I have never realized how dependent I was on electricity until the power was out for 3 days. My family and I would take car rides just to stay warm and to get coffee, at Starbucks of courseJ. It was so cold in my house we had the fire place burning, so many candles lit, and lots and lots of blankets. While we had no power for three days my family and I played a lot of bored games, talked, and ordered food. It was nice to spend some quality time with my family, but we did miss the TV very much!

How did everyone else do without the power? Did anyone else lose power for more than three days?

Midterms...it never ends

So I have one more midterm which is tomorrow. I am ready to take it and I really want to get it over with! My midterms were so spread out. In a way it was great because I had more time to study for all of my exams but it wasnt so great because I still have one more to take.

Yesterday, Monday morning at 10am I finally got back my american lit. midterm. I was unsure how I did on it so I was kinda freaked out when I heard my name called.  I got a B on it!! It was the perfect way to start off my monday morning. I was smiling the entire morning. I felt like such a nerd but I worked had for that B and I am happy with it, because I did my best :)

Well, one more midterm to go. I feel like everyone has finished taking all there midterms and I still have one more. Oh well.

Wish me luck!

My plans for this weekend..

This weekend I plan to use most of time studying and working on my teacher website.

First I really need to study for my into to exceptional child midterm, it is on the 26th and it is all essays/ short answers. I really need to get all my thoughts together before this exam. There is a lot of information that I need to know. But I think I  will be alright.  After I do that I really need to work on my teacher website, for this class. The website is giving me a hard time here in class so I want to spend more time on it at home. Also, im not really sure what I want to put on the actual website. Can anyone give me some ideas? or share with me what they have so far. For me, seeing what is already out there helps me get my ideas together. (Im a visual learner)

hope everyone enjoys their weekends!!

midterm = stress

I have two more midterms and I have never been more stressed. I have been studying everyday for my two education midterms. Im scared im going to get the information confussed. Thank god I have my Assessment issues exam today so I can have more time to study for my intro to exceptional child midterm which is on the 26th. The material to both classes are very similiar so I am really nervous that I am going to get the information confussed. I really hope I do well on this exam. It is today at 4pm and I am so lucky that I have a long break after this class so I can get my thoughts together before the exam.

how is everyone else doing with midterms?

Steve Jobs, RIP

Apples former CEO, Steve Jobs, died yesterday at the age of 56 after a life long battle of pancreatic cancer. Steve Jobs was the co founder of Apple. He has changed the world and shaped the technological revolution of the past three decades and made it accessible to everyone in the world. The Iphone, Itouch, and Ipad have really changed the way we use technology today, all thanks to Steve Jobs. Jobs was a huge inspration to many people. I am so sadden to hear about this death because he really had some much more time to live. He was still young and im sure had many more ideas. Apple has lost a major part of their company, but his ideas will live on.

“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful … that’s what matters to me.” -Wall Street Journal 1993

Rest In Peace Steve Jobs, thank you for all your hard work and giving us what we have today!

Since I cant comment back on anything...

This is in reply to Dr. Ries comment ..

Thank you Dr. Ries, yes a lot has changed in cheerleading. It is a sport that requries a lot of hardwork and tranining. A lot of people really underestimate what we cheerleaders do! The bases have to throw the flyer up in the air while she kicks and flips, then the bases are expected to catch them! It is very scarey but also a lot of fun! The coach and myself make up the routine and once a week we go to a cheerleading gym called Just Cheer. At the gym we are paired up with a instrutor who works with us throughout the season. The instrutor works with the girls to perfect the routine and also to teach the girls more difficult stunts. Our goal is to have difficult stunts in our routine. The girls are doing so well right now, they are fealess! The fact that the girls are so fearless really helps us out because it allows us to try new and harder things!

Show and tell day

Today I am showing my inspiration. I think inspiration is a great tool to use in the classroom. It lets the students become creative in their writing organiztion steps. It is also really easy to use so all grades can use it. In my inspiration I am using it as a demonstration speech, on the steps of doing a prep in cheerelading.

I started cheerleading when I was in the 3rd grade and did it through my freshamn year of college. Right now I am a volunteer for my highschool's competiton team. I have been helping out the team since I graduated from the high school. Tonianne is the coach and she was my coach when I was in highschool. When I graduated she asked me if I wanted to help her out with the team. She called me her "right hand girl". I love being apart of the team and helping these girls. Tonianne really needs my help this year because she is pregnant .. with twins!  Since I am still young I am able to get in the stunts and help the girls with their techniques and show them what they are doing wrong. Cheerleading has been a big part of my life and I love every moment of it.

catch up day

So I finished my Photo story but I didn't put any music on yet. I keep forgetting to put a song on my flashdrive soI will put a song on my flashdrive when I get home TODAY! I put a reminder in my phone (love technology) I will get an alert on my phone at 7:00pm tonight to remind me to put a song on my flashdrive. If I don't set the reminder then I will forget!

So on Thursday its "show and tell day" I will be showing my Inserpration web. I really like insperation becuase since I want to be a english teacher I think that inserpration would be a great organizational tool for the students to use in class and also at home. It is a great way for the students to get their thoughts out and also to be creative. Also, the teacher can use this as a lesson. For example, if th students are reading a short story or a chapter in a book the teacher can break up th students into small groups and they will then make a insperation web to outline what they have read.

Lastly, my teachers website. I have to really work on that today, it is my first time making a website and it is a little challenging for me but I will figure it out.

Happy catch up day everyone!

First day of observation is tomorrow

Monday I finally got in touch with my teacher that I will be observing under. After countless voice mails and emails sent, she finally emailed me back on Monday and I will be going to George Washington Middle School tomorrow for the day. I'm excited and also really nervous, but mostly excited. I will be with an in-class support science teacher. I'm not to thrilled about being in a science classroom all day, but there is nothing I can do about that. Hopefully I can work something out with the teacher she will send me into another classroom. (fingers are crossed)

good luck to my other classmates that will be observing tomorrow as well.

... and happy thursday, hope you all have a good weekend!

Western Literature

For the past few weeks in my Western Literature class we have been reading the epic Homer's: Iliad. In yesterdays class we just read the part where Patroclus told Achilles that he would put on his armor and go into battle with the trojans. Patroclus' thought was that the trojans would go running for the hills when they saw "Achilles". But in result they went after him and killed him, thinking that it was Achilles. When Achilles found out what had happend he felt very, very guilty and now is seeking revenge on the trojans. He is seeking revenge because the trojans kept Patroclus body. In that time period that was a big deal because to have a proper funeral they would need the body present. At this point in the epic Achilles is very mad and upset that he let Patoclus go into battle pretending to be him and is now getting ready to go into battle to take back Patroclus' body and to kill th trojans.

10 years ago I was walking into my 5th grade class. As I was walking into the classroom my teacher had the news on. Every morning he would watch the news before school started. The morning of 9/11/01 was no different. Mr. Yates was sitting at his desk watching the news and to everyone’s surprise a plane had flown into the world trade center towers. He immediately turned off the TV when he realized what was going on. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I will never forget how scared I was when I saw the plane hit the towers because my dad worked in the city at the time.

Not even 10 minutes later my school had received a bomb scare and we had a "Code Green" which means we had to leave the building. My sister was in the third grade at the time and I remember seeing Alexis crying because she wanted to be by me.  A half hour later our mom came to pick us up and we went home. My dad was there waiting for us to come home and I was happy that we were all safe.

I still can’t believe 10 years has passed already and I remember this day so clearly.
So many lives were taken from us on this day but they will never be forgotten and they will remain in everyone’s hearts forever.

Never forget 9/11 <3

Thursday :)

Ahhh yes it's Thursday! After this class I can go back home and catch up on all my readings for my English class. Yesterday the book store informed me that my book won't be coming in until the 23rd, so I had to ask one of my friends in the class if I can borrow her book to make photo copies.

This morning with Abby and Dylan was a rough one. When I walked in they were both fighting over who's show they were going to watch in the morning. Mind you that they have three TVs in the house. but of course they both HAD to watch TV in moms room. So I told them they each can watch one of their shows, which I thought was fair. But Abby did not agree! She started to cry and scream, so I then simply told her that if she was going to keep crying she would not be able to watch TV period. Well that calmed her down and she went back into the room and watched her show.

It so crazy how the little ones get so bent out of shape over TV in the morning. But they are only five and eight. Oh well!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I know I will enjoy not waking up at 6:30am for two days :)

Rain Rain go away !!

About 2 years ago I was asked by one of my neighbors if I was interested in watching her children in the mornings since she and her husband have to leave to work by 7am and the kids dont have to be in school until 8:30-9am. I said yes right away because it sounded like an easy job. I am basically a nanny, and I love every moment of it! it does get challenging at times but that's life! These children that I spend every morning with are so sweet and loving. When I walk into the house in the mornings i usually greeted with a bigggg huggg! but this morning was different when I walked in this morning Stacey told me that the kids were still sleeping so I knew that today was going to be a rough day! plus it was raining. Stacey told me all that I needed to do and what was already done for the kids, she showed me the papers that needed to go to each teacher and then she was off to work. Around 7:30am I woke up both children, Abby and Dylan, with a friendly hello and saying "Its the first day of school, wake upppp!!!" they weren't as excited as I was trying to be at 7:30am Abby started to cry right away, and she was yelling for her mommy but little Dylan was right by her side telling her she was going to have so much fun in school today. It was very sweet!  Dylan was my little helper this morning he helped me make breakfast for himself and for his sister. Abby was not having it this morning, she was going into a new school today so she was really scared and wanted her mommy. I tried my best to keep her relaxed but she wanted nothing to do with me this morning. I finally was able to get her attention when i asked her if she wanted me to paint her nails for the first day of school. SHE LOVED IT and it made her stop the crying. Finally some peace and quiet. Around 8am is the time when i like to get the kids dressed and ready for the day so we can leave the house by 8:30am. After I dropped the kids off I go home and get myself ready for class then off i am to Caldwell.

Saved by the mom..

Last night I set my alarm for 9am and went to bed. When I woke up this morning I was feeling very, very nervous!! I was nervous because I was scared that my commute to caldwell was going to be a disaster!! (due to the lovely aftermath of Irene) I left my house at 10am which gave me more than enough time to get to caldwell. Usually my commute to school would only take me about 20 minutes.  My class started at 12 so I was hoping that my commute would only take me an hour, the most. So as I am about to put my left signal light to get onto 23 I see that the highway is closed. I try to get onto 23 a different way  but it was also closed. I saw a officer and asked  him what was the fastest way to get to caldwell is, I explain to him that today is my first day of classes, the officer said, "There is no way you are going to get to school today, im surprised that they didnt close" Well with that answer I called my mom not knowing any other way to my school, my mom was able to give me directions through the back roads. (mom’s always know best) There was still bumper to bumper traffic on the back roads which made me late to class.(I hate being late) when I finally arrived to class I walked into the class room to see some friendly faces. So my first day of classes started off  a little crazy, and nothing like I had planed it to go but sometimes nothing turns out the way you want them to, that just how it goes-- its life. But now I am ready to start the fall semester!
